My Luck

Soooooo. Basically I have the worst luck ever. I am writing this blog about almost a week late because of one major reason. My laptop broke! Yep that's right everyone my laptop that every college student relies on so much decided it was going to be mean and break on me. So right now I am on my roomates girlfriends computer writing this blog. If it is one thing or another for me. One week my x box breaks. The next my tv breaks, then my phone, and now my laptop. I can't catch a break on anything. I am so far behind on a lot of my work because all my work was saved on my laptop and now I have to start all over on everything that I have ever written. If bad luck really does exist. I think I am its main target at least 100% of the time. I have to sit here and use other peoples laptops and use there ink which I do not like to do. At least we get to turn our papers in online. Thank you Mr. Davidson! Well I know I am very short this week, but time is running out for me to be on my friends computer because now he needs to write a part of his paper. Hopefully I can be on time with my blog this Friday. Peace out everyone!

Why??

I know I am a week behind but I have been thinking real hard for what to put on last weeks blog and I finally figured out what i wanted to write about. This past year in highschool one of my buddies that went to school with me. He was a sophomore and on May 3rd 2008 while riding his 4 wheeler behind some trails he hit a puddle and flipped it and got killed. I was on my way to Slidell to go out to eat when I heard that he had got in the wreck and was taking to the hospital. No longer than 5 minutes I got the call saying that they had lost him. I never felt so lost in life. One of my friends that the night before I rode with him to watch a baseball game. Little did I ever know that was the last time that I would ever see him. But the question is.. why? Why did he have to go fast. Why did he have to go 4 wheeler riding? Why did this have to happen to Josh? The nicest person you would ever meet. Going to school after that situation was probably the worse out of them all. I felt like I was locked up in a cage. Never thought that one of my good friends would pass away like this. I guess all things happen for a reason and I miss him a lot. Hopefully one day I will see him again and we can play baseball together again..

Soooo...

So basically my internet stopped working until today which is why I am now writing my blog at 6 on a Monday. I don’t know why it just decided to stop working. Anyways, I am tired of losing football games. I really think I am bad luck. USM hasn’t had a losing season in 14 years, and what happens the first year I get here? A losing season! Maybe it is because Coach Fedora is coaching his first year of football as a head coach. I do think we need to give him some slack. Bower didn’t do so hit his first couple of years. Maybe we need to just wait it out this season and pick back up next season. Hopefully our defense will get a little better it is really bugging me the most. The past 2 weekends I have went home and I certainly loved it. I Haven’t been home in a while and I really missed my friends and family that were still down there. Hopefully once football season is over I will be able to go down a lot more. I recently bought Guitar Hero 4 while I was down in Bay St. Louis. It is really hard but it has a lot of good songs that I can relate to. The past couple games have had a lot of older songs that I never knew about. And on a side note I would like to say that parking on campus needs to get better!! AHH!!

EEeeekk!!

So basically I totally forgot about blogs last week. I had so much stuff on my mind. Like how i cant wait for this week to be over with! I have so many things to have to turn in for school. I am ready to go home and see my family. I haven't gotten to see them for a long time. Many people say they can't wait to graduate highschool. I remember I had said it myself, but now I wish I was still there at some points. I'm ready for fall break. Get off of class wednesday, go home and pack. Then Thursday after work I can go home to the Bay. I just want to relax and get out of hattiesburg for a little while. Well, we didn't pull off the upset against Boise State. We have now lost 3 in a row. We now play two away games in a row, and I am willing to bet that if we don't win both of those then don't expect to see many people at the rest of the games. People keeps saying that they want bower back, but as I recall I believe that Bower didn't have a winning season his first year as a head coach either. Everyone just needs to give Fedora some time. Things will start to come together for us and Southern Miss.

Upsets upsets and more Upsets??

So. I am back this week with another blog to entertain everyone. (I HOPE). This week seemed like the longest week ever. I thought it was never going to end. College football is picking up where they left off last year with upset after upset. Last Thursday started with USC losing to Oregon State. Saturday Ole Miss went to the Swamp and upset the Florida Gators. WHAT IS HAPPENING! This past Thursday South Florida who was ranked number 10 lost to Pittsburgh. To me, the best game last weekend by far was Alabama whipping up on Georgia. All this hype about Georgia this Georgia that. I got tired of hearing it. Alabama went into Athens during Georgia’s blackout game and started the game scoring 31 points in the first half. Alabama scored on there first 5 possessions and never turned back. Alabama has now jumped 6 spots to number 2 in the nation. People ask, “do they deserve it?” Well, I think so! Alabama has done everything right this year. They are 5-0 and haven’t trailed once the whole season. Nick Saban has those kids ready to work. Upset alert this weekend? I believe so. I think that Vanderbilt is going to upset the number 12 Auburn Tigers. Auburn has a good defense, but have no offense what so ever! I believe Vandy will keep on winning and bust the BCS. Speaking of upsets. Can Southern Miss pull one off in 2 weeks? We host Boise State at home. Boise State is also ranked. It could get interesting. TUNE IN!

WHY?

Has anyone ever wondered why top teams seem to lose to nobody’s? I seem to think about it a lot and it aggravates me. USC losing to Oregon State today was just ridiculous. When you are favored to win by 21 points that means you are supposed to win! This is why college football is so great! In the NFL you have like 30 teams or something. In college you have over 100 division 1 football teams. The chances for an upset are higher in college. You have to think of it this way though. Majority of the kids playing on Saturdays, those games are kind of just like interviews to see if they will play next year on Sunday. This is the first time In like 20 years that a number 1 team lost to a non-ranked opponent. If you are ranked 1st in the country there is no way that a team like Oregon State should be on the same field as them. After this game the college football standings are going to be pretty interesting to look at come Monday. With USC losing there is a guaranteed new number 1 in the country come Monday. It is going to be pretty interesting to see how the rest of the season is going to play out with all this going on. I believe college football is at its best this year.

Past Weekend

Well this past weekend was basically a wild one. To start it off, friday night while using my phone it just decided to give up on me and not work. I tried everything possibily in the book and nothing would work. I turned it off turned it back on. Took the battery out. Left it off all day. NOTHING! The whole weekend I was without a phone! Saturday night I went with my girlfriend to her chi o date party at the green room. It was pretty fun.
Sunday the Saints decided they were going to lose in the last minutes of the game which made me kinda mad. They seem to do it to me every year. They play Denver on Sunday so hopefully they will bounce back and win. Last weekend my college team West Virginia lost to East Carolina which was an upset. Now, yesterday they lost again to Colorado! I don't know what to do anymore, every team I like decides they want to lose. I am ready for the Southern Game tomorrow. Hopefully it wont get hot and burn everyone up since it is at 2 in the afternoon. I have a good feeling that we are going to win. Last week we played Arkansas State and they gave us a run for our money and almost got us. Tomorrow starts conference play for us and it would be huge to get out of there tomorrow with a W. Well that is basically all I have for this week.

College Football.. Storms... Weekends..

Last weekend I went to the Auburn game.. It was ok I guess.. I think we should have won., but o well, the game was against an SEC team. We weren’t favored to win that. The Saints did win there opener though. That made me pretty happy. My main upset of the whole weekend was probably my West Virginia Mountaineers being upsetted by East Carolina. My team was ranked 8th in college football and now they have dropped all the way down to the bottom of the polls. This weekend I am looking forward to watching the Ohio State vs. USC game. This game will tell a lot of what could happen with the national title race. My pick for this game will have to be USC they are just a better football program.
I was going to try to go home this weekend but I can’t because of hurricane Ike! Part of it is hitting our coast and it is already causing flooding in places and they are shutting down some of the roads. Stupid hurricanes. One comes and goes and then right when you think everything is back to normal another hurricane comes out of no where and everyone panics all over again. I can’t go home next weekend either because I have to work because we have a home game coming up. Hopefully when the football team has an off week I will get off too and be able to go down to the coast to see my family and spend some time with them. Well that is all for this week.

Auburn vs USM

So.... This weekend I am heading to Alabama. Me and my buddy are going to watch the USM vs Auburn game. Hopefully we can pull an upset out of nowhere and beat them. Damion is close to breaking the all-time USM rushing record and becoming the all-time leader. The only thing I am not looking forward to is the 5 hour drive to get to the game. This will be the first SEC game I have gone too and I think it will be tight. Another thing. I am looking forward for NFL football to finally begin. Tomorrow is the first game and it is NY Giants Vs Washington Redskins. With the defensive problems the Giants are having with Strahan retiring and Osi getting hurt with the torn knee. Things aren't looking to hot for last years SuperBowl champs. Let's see, I am looking forward to the USM game saturday and the Saints game on sunday. Hopefully we can turn things around after a disappointing year last year. After adding key additions like Jeremy Shockey I think we can make another run to the NFC championship like we did 2 years ago. We have a good team we just have to find something to do with Jason David. That guy is plain horrible. The teams I think are going to the superbowl are Pittsburgh and New Orleans. Me, Myself, and I

Hey everyone, I'm writing this blog because, well, we have too. I wanted to start my first blog off by introducing myself. As we all know in class we learned each others names. My name is Garrett and I am from Bay St. Louis, MS where I attended Bay High School all my 4 years of high school. I was born and raised in Bay St. Louis my whole life. As like everyone in life there has been some tragic times in my life, first coming when I was five years old when my mother passed away. My dad re-married and my sister and I ended up gaining two step-brothers and one step-sister. Second moment would have to be when hurricane Katrina hit in August 2005. Since that time I had been prepairing myself for college. I was doing things such as; getting my grades up, finding a place where I was going to live, and cherishing friendships.

I realized that I was going to attend USM at the beginning of my senior year. I picked USM because I had family that had gone there and they said that I would really enjoy it. It also helps that a good portion of my friends from high school were attending too. I feel really comfortable about my classes and I think that USM will be a good place where I can succeed and leave with my degree in sport coaching education. When I get my degree at USM I plan on going to coach baseball at a good high school. I realized I wanted to be a baseball coach when I got into highschool baseball and learning from my coaches there. On another note I am basically done with my blog this week. Just to let everyone know next weeks blong won't be as boring as this one.
